About me

I am a Senior Research Scientist at Inria, centre Bordeaux Sud-Ouest in the Auctus team (Talence, France) since November 2020. From 2007 to October 2020, I was a tenured associate professor of Robotics at the Institute of Intelligent Systems and Robotics of the Sorbonne Université (Paris, France). From September 2018 to October 20220, I was in secondement as a Research Scientist at Inria, centre Bordeaux Sud-Ouest in the Auctus team (Talence, France). I was previously working from 2006 to 2007 as a postdoctoral researcher at the Stanford Artificial Intelligence Laboratory in the group of Prof. O. Khatib (Stanford, USA). I received my PhD from INP de Toulouse in 2005, under the supervision of Pr. P. Chiron and J.-Y. Fourquet at the Laboratoire Génie de Production (LGP) (Tarbes, France). Previously, I received a M.Sc. in Systems and Automatic Control from INP de Toulouse and a M.Eng. from Ecole Nationale d'Ingénieurs de Tarbes both in 2001. In 1999 and 2000, I was an exchange student in Mechanical and Production Engineering at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) under the supervision of Jérôme Foret (Singapore)

Research interests

My research activities aim at creating control architectures allowing for the emergence of advanced robotic behaviours in constrained contexts and dynamic environments. This requires the formulation of well-posed tasks and constraints oriented optimization problems both at the reactive and predictive control level. I am especially interested in the task-oriented automatic design, the modelling and the control of robots such as wheeled mobile manipulators, humanoid robots as well as collaborative manipulators. I am also involved in research activities aiming at bridging the gap between adaptation and decision making techniques and model-based control through the use of machine learning and evolutionary algorithms. Last but not least, my research activities in collaborative robotics include the ergonomic dimension where I explore and develop virtual humans model to predict and quantify the ergonomy of collaborative robots in given contexts.
